Caption title.
Original drawing for an illustration for George Outram's Legal and other lyrics. London : T.N. Foulis, 1916.
Inscribed and dated at upper left of drawing, "Edmund J. Sullivan 1914"; inscribed in pencil at top, "The Annuity"; at bottom, "'Its pay me here - and pay me there an' pay me, pay me, evermair.'"
Drawing shows a fantastical and grotesque figure composed of an metal telescope(?) with the head, arms, and feet of an old woman, hanging upside down from a tree limb from her oversized feet. In one enormous hand, she clutches a man, who grabs her neck with both hands in a desparate attempt to throttle her as she shakes the coins from his pockets into the palm of her other hand.
