A satire on the defeat of the French at Bailén in July 1808.
Print shows a battle scene with the Spanish forces driving the French troops before them, assisted by monks and nuns who wield daggers and man a cannon, while a bishop rides with troops holding a sword and crosier and a British grenadier bayonets French soldiers. The Spanish soldiers advance in close formation, holding banners which read: 'La Morte ou la Victoire'; 'Vive le Rot Ferdinand VII'; 'Sainte Vierge' with the Virgin, with a sword in her right. hand and the Child in her left. arm; 'Victoire Espagnol'; and 'Vive la Libert[é]'.
