A drawing in the collections of the British Museum, with an estimated date of 1690-1700, bears a resemblance to this print, the design being reversed and differing in some individual elements (see Museum number 1931,0613.2).
Print shows a maid in white lace frontage behind canopied bar and a manservant taking clay pipes from a chest, at right; at center, another servant pours coffee for a customer, and groups of men are shown seated on benches at tables at left, with newspapers and shallow cups; in the background at right, a fire is hung with a large kettle, with a row of coffee pots on the fender; directly above hangs a painting of a couple embracing; on the back wall at left, a mirror, two portraits and rows of hats hang from the wall between two high windows at left. Two dogs wrestle in the foreground.
