Peel 2585
Provenance:
Formerly owned by Sir Robert Peel.
Notes:

Etched and engraved by Jean César Macret after a painting by Louis François Sébastien Fauvel.
Date suggested by a notice signed by Macret informing the public of the publication of the print which appeared in the Journal de Paris, August 5, 1780, page 886-887.
This state lacks the dedication to Catherine II of Russia, and the inscription in French describing the scene, present on other impressions of the print.

Summary:

Voltaire, surrounded by Spirits carrying various attributes, is bowing before Henri IV who is welcoming him in Elisium; in the background, Louis XIV, Louis XV, Peter, Corneille and Molière; on the left, a rivergod sleeping on the left; coat of arms of Catherine II in lower margin.
