By James Gillray.
Impression lacks the 1782 imprint of Elizabeth Darchery at upper right which is present in some states of the print; the series title at upper left is faint and appears to be partially burnished away.
On left above design: Political characters & caracatures of 1782. No. IV.
Library's copy partially trimmed within plate mark.
Print shows Admiral Rodney on the shore with Britannia and Neptune, who hand him their staffs, while the British Lion claws at the flag of France on which Rodney stands. Standing out to sea in a toy boat made of playing cards, Admiral Pigot (represented as a pig) views the scene through his spyglass.
