Van Berckel was Pensionary of Amsterdam, very hostile to England, and the chief advocate in the United Provinces of war with England.
Summary:
Half length portrait in an oval, facing three quarter to right, of Van Berckel. He is stout, wears a conical cap, a furred robe over a waistcoat; a plain cravat is tied round his neck.
