Date suggested by Isaac and by BM record for another popular print by Davison.
No. 9 printed at upper left.
Sheet trimmed within plate mark at head of image.
Probably after a caricature by Robert Dighton (BM Satires 6153) entitled: A journeyman parson going on duty.
Print shows a lean curate on a plodding horse riding along a country road. He wears a gown, wig, and shovel hat and under his arm is a portfolio. He has just passed an inn door (left) in which stands a fat butcher holding a tankard, who grins complacently towards him. Two grinning yokels stand behind the butcher. The sign of a harrow hangs from a projecting beam.
