There are a number of differences between this earlier state and the later one. This one is clearly inscribed Romeyn de Hooge Fecit, an inscription which is almost illegible in Peel 0069, and in the version in the British Museum Catalogue of Political and Personal Satires. In its earlier state, the design has not been inscribed with labels and titles. In some places it has much finer detail: see particularly the image on the left-hand side of the circular tower. In the later state there is heavier crosshatching: see the flags on the left-hand side of the image.
