The drawing entered the collection with Scholz’s attribution to Giulio Campi, which apparently was based on an opinion offered by Hans and Erica Tietze. The drawing is not by Giulio Campi, though it may well be by one of his Cremonese followers from later in the sixteenth century. There is a certain resemblance in figure type to a drawing in the Uffizi of the Mystic Marriage of Saint Catherine, recently tentatively attributed by Marco Tanzi (Florence 1999, no. 100) to Cristoforo Agosta (Casalmaggiore 1570-1597). The pose of the main figure on the recto and verso is quite similar, seen from the front and the back.
