Notes:
A major post-war American artist, Conner was active in San Francisco as a sculptor, draftsman, and filmmaker from the late 1950s on. In 1975, he began his first sustained experiments with inkblots, intricate fields of glyphs inspired by his memories of childhood ink spills. The inkblot became his primary drawing technique in the last two decades of his life.
