Title from item.
Drawing probably intended for an illustration for an unidentified publication.
Signed and dated with the drawing, "Edmund J. Sullivan 1919"; inscribed on verso in ink, "When the Good Ship Comes Home", above that, in pencil, "The Good Ship Common Sense", directly below, "(Query - Is this ship a phantom ship?)", on lower portion of board, "To be returned to Edmund J. Sullivan ARWS 18 Hill Road St. John's Wood N.W. 8."
Drawing shows the prow of a ship, with a winged figurehead holding a dove and wearing a crown of laurels; doves and cherubs fly around the figure, the latter bearing garlands of flowers, as a nude winged male figure stands poised with a bow and arrow in his hands at the base of the ship's bowsprit.
