Summary:

An elderly woman sits on a stool playing a small harpsichord (right) seen in profile, a music-book upon it. She sings with her head turned towards the spectator, her features twisted, eyes closed. Her hair hangs upon her round shoulders; the curves of her figure and a small waist indicate an attempt to conceal the ravages of time. The line is shaky throughout, to give an impression (especially in the music-book) of an aged, quavering voice.
