Summary:

The interior of a church or crypt, indicated by a stone wall with funeral monuments, and a flagged floor in which old graves have been violated. A soldier tramples on a skeleton, another levers up a flag-stone. Behind, a boy in military uniform, in back view, urinates upon a skull. A citizen raises a mallet in both hands to deface a large monument against the wall, on which is the figure of a bearded man in sixteenth-century armour. A plumed helmet and blazoned shield lie on the ground.
