Notes:

Nearly every day from 1964 to 2000, Evans made a collage in a bound notebook. These collages, which often include ephemera picked up in the street near his Lower East Side apartment, chronicle world events, particular cultural moments, or episodes from the artist's private life. Evans integrated the found elements into compositions of intricate patterns and vivid colors. Most of them feature a row of duck heads, which he called Ursuline ducks in tribute to his friend, the novelist Ursule Molinaro (1916-2000).
