April 12. 1743.; beyond decorative border at upper left in graphite: x 20; at upper right: 32; below decorative border in pen and brown ink within double ruled border, in Richard Bull's hand (?): He was some yeas Pastor of a dissenting congregation at Ipswich, and in 1733 succeeded to / Dr[superscript "r"] Calamy in Westminster. in the year 1737, at the request of Mr[superscript "r"] Richardson the Painter he wrote / two Essays on the harmony, variety, and power of Numbers in general, and on those of Paradise / Lost in particular, which were much read and admired, and were soon after published / in our Vol. 2no[superscript "o"][?]. His only daughter was married to Mr[superscript "r"] Toms a dissenting Minister in the / town of Hadleigh, Suffolk. Several of his letters, which shew him to have been a very / sensible Man are in the Collection published by Mr[superscript "r"] Duncombe; his character of Bridget / Bendish in the Appendix to the letters, is very remarkable . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .; on album leaf at lower right in graphite: Bull's / hand.
