Inscribed on the verso, with miscellaneous pen trials, and at lower center, in brown ink, "...ransel / ... / 129". On the old mount, with Knapton code, in brown ink: at upper left, "331"; below at center, "Z 40"; and at upper right, "1N / L61".

Philipe, 25 May-3 June 1807, presumably one of lots 328-35 (not lot 331 as indicated by the inscription on the verso), possibly lot 325 (as Elsheimer): "a small landscape, a wood-scene, pen and Ind.
