Notes:
In this work, Paul Huet made studies of various subjects sketched directly from nature. It is especially interesting since it was executed in a variety of techniques: pencil for rapid drawing of a hamlet, pen and brown ink for a study of tree trunks, watercolor for a landscape with windmills. Huet was particularly fond of this last medium, which he mastered at a young age. He used this quick drawing of a landscape with three windmills for a small study painted in oil around 1820, now in the Musée Carnavalet, Paris.
