The typed label on the cover of the sketchbook from which these drawings came states: "These drawings by Johann Biedermann are part of a broken up sketch-book which belonged to his son, Biedermann, Jr., whose writing and the date 1830 is on the back of some of them. The drawings were made in Vienna, around 1780; see some dated and signed drawings by this designer in the portfolios among the mounted drawings. All of them came from the Mayr-Fajt Collection in Eisenstadt, Austria."

At center, in brown ink: " Biedermann [?] 22 October /830"; in graphite:"[?] April 1783 N3"; at bottom in graphite: "backing of (two?the?) landscape-scenery designs by J. Biedermann."
