Date from British Museum catalog; BM Satires tentatively identifies the subject of this caricature as the Duke of Roxburghe (1740-1804), noted as a collector of rare books and broadside ballads.
Summary:
Bust portrait of a young man in profile to the right much caricatured. He has a large aquiline nose, large eye, receding forehead and chin, long thin neck, and sloping shoulders. Cf. BM Satires.
