Pen and ink copy, in an unidentified hand, of an etched caricature print published by S.W. Fores, June 4th 1798, and attributed by the British Museum to English printmaker Charles Williams (see: George 9225).
Title from published print.
Drawing is a crude outline in pen and ink copied from the etched design by Williams, which shows Pitt standing at left, his head turned in profile to the right, showing himself to John Bull, a stout yokel who stands with bent knees and hands held up, grinning up at him. Pitt is very thin, with a pistol in his right hand, and a top-hat in his left, while John Bull wears a round hat with a belt over his old-fashioned coat; his lank hair falls on his collar, and his coarse features are burlesqued.
