Notes:
Lozano dropped out of the art world in the 1970s, but she had gained attention in the 1960s for her raw, sexually charged images and for drawings and paintings depicting tools, such as the screw and nail suggested by this drawing. As utilitarian objects par excellence, tools were an ideal subject for the artist, who sought in her provocative work to restore sensuality and play to a culture overtaken by work and productivity.
