Drawing shows a paunchy bespectacled man dressed as Hamlet, standing before Queen Gertrude and gesturing towards two full length pictures on the wall before them, one depicting a stately and dignified classical female figure identified as "Republique Conservative", the other a crazed and disheveled woman identified as "Republique Rouge".
