Design for a Title Page to a Book of Poetry(?)
Pen and brown ink and brown and gray wash over graphite, touched with white chalk, on paper; incised with the stylus.
5 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches (141 x 82 mm)
Gift of John F. Fleming.
1968.15:29
Notes:

Gravelot's design probably was intended to serve as title page illustration although a related publication has yet to be identified. A male figure is shown seated in the foreground at right, flanked by two putti; a circular temple with a statue appears in the background, with a bust of a man on a pedestal, surrounded by flying putti, at left.
