Drawing shows a room where the body of a bearded man lies sprawled across a table; Father Brown stands over the body, with an umbrella in one hand and the other held to his forehead, while behind him Flambeau stands with the receiver of a telephone held to his ear; on the floor below lie scattered coins, a man's hat, umbrella, and a medicine bottle.
