Notes: 

This portrait of a man, seen in profile located at the left of sheet, is signed by Lovis Corinth. It is possibly a self-portrait. A profile portrait of the same model is located on the right of the sheet and it is signed by Corinth's pupil, Leo Michelson. Corinth, who studied at the Julian Academy in Paris, was taught by Bouguereau and others. By 1900 he went to live in Berlin, and was eventually elected to the Academy there.

Inscribed at center left in graphite, "Lovis Corinth"; inscribed at lower right in charcoal: "Leo Michelson / 1907".
