Notes:
This sketch of a female head is probably preparatory to a figure in one of Maratti's paintings. The artist made numerous preparatory sketches in order to work out precise figural poses and attitudes. In the drawing, Maratti focused on the woman's features, using white chalk to create highlights around her nose and mouth. -Sean Leatherbury, 2009
