Attributed to Jonathan Richardson, Sr., in Fairfax Murray; confirmed by Carol Gibson-Wood ("Jonathan Richardson as a Draftsman," Master Drawings 32, no. 3 [1994], pp. 203-229), who suggests that the sitter may be one of Richardson's daughters.
