Traditionally attributed to Antonio Galli Bibiena, this drawing was linked by Maria Teresa Muraro and Elena Povoledo (1980) to Francesco Galli Bibiena's work for the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona. What seems to be a preliminary drawing for this composition, formerly in the collection of Phyllis Lambert, is now at the Canadian Centre for Architecture, inv. DR1960:0003, attributed to Ferdinando Galli Bibiena. Two additional drawings of a similar motif, from a sketchbook formerly attributed to Giovanni Servandoni (1695-1766), are also at the Morgan, inv. 1982.75:621.24 & 25.
