Letter to Donald Oenslager from Anna Evreinoff, 4/22/65--"As for Akimoff's sketch it is the satirical representation of Hamlet. In my book / on the same page as the picture, page 14 / I explain it. The very 'avant garde metteurs en scene' of that time, Eisenstein, Meyerhold, etc. sometimes changed so much the author that you could no more recognize the play. Ophelie is going up the ladder singing 'Its a long way to Tiperere'; The king each time asserting his kingship runs under the crown and so on.----Akimoff was our friend and he executed many drawings for me when I was in Russia I worked as the publisher/1921-25/".
