Inscription:
Dated by the artist in black chalk along left edge, "17 10 37"; later inscribed by the artist in blue ballpoint pen along lower edge, "these notes were taken from the top of fifth avenue bus, during transport through the avenue, looking eastward". Inscribed on verso in graphite at lower right, "2/33".

Mrs. Julia Feininger, the wife of the artist; her gift to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Colin.
