St. Philip's encounter with a "eunuch of great authority under Candace, Queen of the Ethiopians" is described in the Acts of the Apostles. The eunuch is seated in a chariot draped with sumptuous tapestries; St. Philip stands nearby, explaining to him a passage from the Book of Isaiah. --Exhibition Label, from "Tiepolo, Guardi, and Their World: Eighteenth-Century Venetian Drawings"
