Inscribed at lower left, in pen and brown ink, with Resta-Somers number, "k.110"; on mount at lower center, in pen and brown ink, "Pelegrino da Modena"; on verso, in pen and brown ink, by Richardson Sr., "J.23. / BB 74 / V.33 / Oo 62. S . / Pellegrino da Modana Fragmento restaurato / Il Pellegrino dipinse in qto andare nella Capella si S. Jacamo di Spagnoli principalmen[te] / [ma]no dextra; e mi ricordo d'un Quadro d'una Madonna simile in Paese largo di questo fare, v[...] / Perugia chenon lo volsero passare per Giulio Romano, ma p[er] altro contemporaneo di Giul[io] / Schola di Raffaele, et era apunto del Pelligrino Modanise. / P.
