Drawing is on verso of a fragment of an etching, plate 48 of Piranesi's "Diverse maniere d'adornare i cammini," 1769, f. 909. This drawing and 1966.11:99 appear to have originally been a single sheet.

Inscription: 

Inscribed at left, in pen and brown ink, "festoni bianchi nero oro // rosr // nero // colori // bianco // verde // gialo / alabastro / sangui[gna]; at right, "gialo // alabastro gi[...] bianco // verde a // a nero / ornamenti bianc[hi]".
