Inscribed at top in pen and brown ink, "Li dui strigili sono della propria grandezza di Bronzo antichi i quali furono trovati nelli bagni / di Traiano imperatore ̣vogliamo dire Therme Traiane, se ne veggono in scultura di marmo / ma non si belli come questi che sono naturali.e & usati nellj Bagni"; at left, within circlet, "CIRCVLVS VEL / TROXALOS"; between strigils, "STRIGILI"; within strigil at right, "STRIG. AMMONI LIB. F." Inscribed below in pen and black ink by Giuseppe Antonelli, "Ferrara 14 Marzo 1824= / Attesto io sottoscritto che il presente disegno è originale di Pirro / Ligorio di cui è autografa la descrizione = / Giuseppe Cav ̊Antonelli Bibl ̊emento direttore del / Museo archeologico".
