Inscribed at lower center of mount, in pen and red ink, "Carlo Cignani"; on verso, at upper right, in pen and brown ink, "N. 1. / I believe this to be of Pietro da Cortona. As for Carlo Cignani, wee [sic] have so little of him 'tis hard to judge of his hand. / J. Richardson"; at lower right, in pen and brown ink, "The 15th night / Lot 66"; at lower right, in graphite, "a true / P. da Cortona / A. Pond"; at extreme lower right, in graphite, "4 - 4 - ".
