Inscribed on verso, "J'ai acheté ce dessin il y a 12 ans à M. Volpato, au moins 80+ si ce n'est 90. Quelques années après, je l'ai vendu dans un lot de gravures et de dessins à M. ... Aujourd'hui 7 Avril 1843 je le retrouve chez Mr. Latour (?) ... je le paye 75 centimes". Also inscribed on verso, "An Carache", "Dessin", and "Titien".
