ca. 1550-1552
Pen and brown ink on paper; outlines faintly incised; squared in black chalk.
6 1/16 x 16 7/8 inches (154 x 430 mm)
Purchased by Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913) in 1909.
I, 65
Description:

The present drawing has been dated by Saccomani to ca. 1550-52, on the basis of its similarity to painted works of that period, such as Domenico’s Supper in the House of Simon (Prague) and Feast of Herod (Copenhagen, Statens Museum for Kunst). The unusual format is suggestive of a fresco or painting, such as an overdoor or predella panel.
