The drawing is closely related to a drawing of a mounted horseman in the British Museum, London (Inv. no. 1859-8-6-74).

Inscription: 

Inscribed on the old Richardson mount at upper left, in graphite, "81"; and at lower center, in Richardson's hand, in brown ink, "Rembrandt"; on the verso of the mount, at lower center, in Robinson's hand, in black ink, "J C Robinson / July 18 1893 / from Lord Aylesford Colln".
