Inscription: 

Signed and dated at lower left at base of urn, in point of brush and brown ink, "Moucheron Fecit / 1743". Inscribed on the verso at lower left, in graphite, "1/2 f20i.16". On the old mount, underneath drawing, in an 18th-century hand, in brown ink, "I: Moucheron / 1743"; at the lower edge of the mount, in a later hand, in graphite, "Isaac Moucheron 1670-1744".
Watermark: Fragment of a crown (similar to Heawood, no. 1829: Holland, 1743). Probably fragment of Strasbourg lily.
