Notes: 

This study of the smallest of accipter hawks is one of fourteen drawings and one colored proof engraving removed from Mark Catesby's "The Natural History of Carolina, Florida, and the Bahama Islands..." 2 vol., London, 1731- 1743 (PML 45708-45709). See also 1961.6:1-14. The present drawing is on wove paper with a watermark bearing the date 1807 indicating it was made and inserted into the Catesby volume at a much later date than the other interleaved works.

Noted on verso, "Removed from Catesby/v I at pl. 3/watermark 1807."
