Watermark: crown over small shield.
This drawing, dated 1755, is the earliest of the three views of Frascati executed by Natoire that belong to the Library. The other sheets, depicting two opposite sides of the cascade, date from 1762, and were sent together by the artist to the marquis de Marigny. One shows the head of the cascade on the terrace above the Nymphaeum (Acc. No. 1996.64), while its pendant depicts the view taken from the foot of the cascade (Acc. No. 1965.18).

Signed in pen and brown ink, at lower left, "C. Natoire"; inscribed and dated at lower right, "au Camal. de Frescati 175[5?]".
