The recto study shows half the design for a symmetrical brooch featuring birds, insects and animals set in leafy foliage. The verso contains two unidentified coats of arms, the larger a shield with a rampant lion above three bands, with the swag of a chain below, and the smaller depicts what might be a rampant lion (obscured by old repairs to the sheet) surmounted by a peacock.
The attribution of this sheet to Mignot is largely based on a comparison with several of his published ornament prints, although none are an exact match.
