Description:

A. E. Popham dated this sheet to Parmigianino’s time in Parma before his departure for Rome in 1524.1 In his more recent catalog of the artist’s drawings, Achim Gnann agreed with this dating, amending his earlier opinion that the Morgan drawing dates from Parmigianino’s time in Rome.2 The present study is similar to another in the Morgan’s collection.3
