Evangelist Matthew, decorated nimbus, holding pen in right hand, and with his left hand holding open book, sits on cushioned bench, with his feet on footstool. He is flanked by pen in inkstand, rolls and shrubs. In upper left corner, nimbed symbol emerges from one of two curtains.
