Cyclamen calf tooled in gilt and palladium with silver morocco onlays in an arabesque pattern designed by Paul Bonet, with the forwarding executed by René Desmules and gilding by Raymond Mondange, bound May 1954 and gilded in Feb. of 1955 (see Bonet's Carnets no. 1096) and evidently intended as a companion piece to a copy of Verlaine's Poème saturniens (Carnets no. 1095); housed in decorated paper slipcase and chemise with cyclamen calf spine and fore-edges; with original printed wrappers bound in.
Inscriptions/Markings:
Library's copy has typographical errors corrected by hand in pencil on the last page of text, as similarly recorded for other copies of the first edition, with the ms. corrections variously attributed to Verlaine himself or to the hand of the author's friend, Edmond Lepelletier. Cf. Galantaris.
