Red morocco binding in the style of Clovis Eve for Pietro Duodo. However the wreath with three fleur-de-lis within an oval (both upper and lower covers) is unlike those on other Duodo bindings, and without his motto.

Possibly bound for Pietro Duodo, a Venetian statesman, or Valois de Saint Remy in the style of Clovis Eve. From the collections of Salvatore Betri, his name and date (1813) on verso of first fly-leaf; Charles Cousin, with his book-plate and pencilled notes on fly-leaf, signed and dated Jan. 1888; and the armorial exlibris of Charles Lormier; Pierpont Morgan Library, purchased from Edouard Rahir, May 1907.
