16th-century Italian (Rome) brown calf, gold tooled with interlace and foliate ornaments and tools of Fortune with a sail and a Cupid, bound for Girolamo Ruiz with his initials and arms, attributed to the Ruiz Binder or Arabesque Binder (the stamp around the armorial cartouche is also found in the work of the Arabesque Binder (for Pope Pius V) as is the knotwork border on Apollo & Pegasus bindings). Gilt and gauffered edges.
