Collection in Focus: Kreisler Recitativo and Scherzo performed by Kelly Hall-Tompkins

A little music for your cozy holiday weekend: listen to violinist Kelly Hall-Tompkins play a piece by Fritz Kreisler from 1911. Fritz Kreisler dedicated this piece to the virtuoso Belgian violinist and composer Eugène Ysaÿe. It reflects qualities of both composers. The opening in its dramatic mood is reminiscent of Ysaÿe. This opening leads to a joyful and effervescent scherzo.

Please enjoy this performance of the "Kreisler Recitativo and Scherzo" performed by Kelly Hall-Tompkins during the 2020 holiday season in the East Room at the Morgan Library & Museum.
