Morgan Seal 462
Provenance:
Acquired by Pierpont Morgan sometime between 1885 and 1908.

"This seal should possibly be dated later than the Old Babylonian period, since it is smaller than the usual type of Old Babylonian cylinder and the figure of the hero attacking a lion is rendered with great freedom of movement. Both these features are found in seals of northern Mesopotamia of the fifteenth century." Porada, CANES, p. 54
