[An area of the bust and his left shoulder] lightly burnished, leaving fine lines from the burnisher. (White and Boon)
Cf. the painting, attributed to Rembrandt and Lievens, of "A bust length study of an Old Man", in the Museum, Schwerin. Münz believed that the etching is a reversed copy, probably by van Vliet, and later finished by Rembrandt, of a drawing at Weimar (H.d.G. 521) after the painting of "A Hermit Reading" (Bredius 605), in Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris.
